Maria De Ambrogio and Stella Tosco have been collaborating for over 15 years, weaving a creative journey that merges design with artistic research.
Through their brand, serien°umerica, the two designers have developed a unique language where precious materials meet an intimate and timeless narrative. Each piece is conceived to endure, intertwining quality, memory, and the value of
well-crafted creations.

Their project “Narrazioni Involontarie” for the Project Room at the NH Collection Piazza Carlina hotel unfolds as a journey through different disciplines and artistic languages, transforming the photographs with three-dimensional collages of fabrics, threads and
embroidery.

Within the context of EXPOSED and its theme of ‘baring oneself’, the project takes shape through a photographic series shot inside the hotel rooms, captured in the morning, immediately after the guests have checked out. The intention is to explore the gap between public and private identity. Whilst in social spaces everyone constructs and controls their own image, in the intimate setting of a hotel room this control loosens until it almost disappears. Here, away from the gaze of others, authentic, involuntary and often unconscious traces emerge.
The unmade or carefully made bed, forgotten objects, signs of a stay, stains, disorder or meticulous order: every element becomes a clue to a presence that has just passed. The room is thus transformed into a sort of indirect self-portrait, a litmus test of the guest’s deepest identity. The project invites the viewer to reflect on what we leave behind, on what escapes our control, and on how even temporary spaces can become places of truth.
